Akamai is upgrading our RTMP streaming solutions to a new ingest and delivery platform. As part of this upgrade, the Flash Media Server network will be upgraded to FMS 5.0.  Entry Points will use the Akamai Ingest Server, which has a built-in RTMP stack.  The purpose of this upgrade is to improve network maintainability and support.  There is no impact on other features or performance.

Akamai will migrate customer streams to the new platform. Primary and backup Entry Points for your streams will be upgraded independently to ensure continued operation. Entry point upgrades will take several hours, during which time streams to the entry point being upgraded will be unable to connect. After the migration is complete, normal activity can be resumed.   If your encoder is not on the qualified encoder list you may wish to test against an updated entry point.

If you have any questions regarding this upgrade, please contact your Akamai account team.  If you discover any issues with your service, please open a Customer Care support case.

Akamai is committed to advancing our media streaming capabilities through our Media Delivery Solutions, which leverage HLS, DASH and HDS streaming technologies.  If you would like to learn more about the benefits offered through these HTTP-based adaptive bitrate streaming technologies, please contact your Akamai representative to get more information about our Media Delivery Solutions portfolio.
