During a typical HTTP Recording session in the Clip Editor, the user can pre-define filterssuch as excludes via the Recording Options, Filter tab. Prior to recording, excludes and explicit includes can be defined and stored for use in all new clips as a user preference. These stored excludes for the user can be revised via the Edit HTTP(s) Recording Excludes command. Once set, they will apply to all of the subsequent clips recorded by this user so keep that in mind during recording sessions.

To redefine the excludes for a user:

  1. Select the Etc. (...) menu, Edit HTTP(s) Recording Excludes command.
  2. Edit the list as desired, separating host names by comma. After which, you can initiate a recording session with or without defining additional clip-level excludes in the Recording Options, Filter tab in the clip.

When you do so, the Edit HTTP(s) Recording Excludes dialog box appears.

  1. To exclude traffic from one or more host name, enter them as as a comma-separated list (i.e. google.com, apple.com, etc.).

Prompt to add to exclude list when deleting an HTTP target

Users attempting to remove a target from an HTTP recording clip will receive a prompt to ask whether or not to add the target to the user's excludes list.

Choosing Remove Target from the context menu will cause the prompt box to appear.

If you'd like to add the host name to this clip's excludes, check the box, and then click OK to remove the target from the clip or Cancel to abandon target removal. Excludes added using this method are appended to the existing excludes for this clip, and can be reviewed and revised in the Edit HTTP(s) Recording Excludes box.
