Unable to Record test with a JS control in an iframe going to an https web site

I am trying to record a clip which accesses a webpage that has an iframe. In the iFrame is a propriatory editor that we have created. This is a js control which uses api calls to go back to our servers. The first thing that is done when loading a document is a log in to our server. The server is accessed with https and i have verified that the certificates are correct. This should bring up a screen within the iframe with a login prompt.
When I run a recording with the conductor, the iframe remains a dark grey colour and has a frowny face (Chrome). Needless to say i am able to run the same scenario when the conductor is not recording.
As per receommendations on the support site, I have tried to enabled multi window ajax support (however this has not made a difference).
In IE i get the following message:
"Content was blocked because it was not signed by a valid security certificate. "
Firefox, works a little better and allows a login but none of the above are able to load the control.
Can anyone assist?
Thanks in advance,
