AKA_PM_BYPASS_MODIFY_PATH=true in advanced override section is bypassing one of my PM behavior.
PM behavior is intended to proxy an incoming request by responding/rendering from a different origin.
To help explain the workflow, you need to know a little of how Akamai configurations work behind the scenes.
In Property manager, various configuration settings and behaviours will affect how a request is passed forward in our network to other cache servers and you origins. Most commonly, when you use NetStorage as an origin, the forward URL needs to have your NetStorage domain and base path prepended.
Hidden from view at the very end of a Property Manager configuration is some internal logic that combines the actions of your behaviours to resolve what will be the URL go forward on. In special cases you may be doing some complex forward re-writing as part of an advanced metadata block and you want to avoid this automatic Property Manager path resolution.
This is the use case for AKA_PM_BYPASS_MODIFY_PATH. Setting this value to "true" acts as a switch to tell the configuration to NOT attempt forward path resolution and to use the path you've configured yourself.
In your case, it may well be that the advanced metadata has a scope that is too broad and changes you've made are being caught by the logic and disabling forward path resolution.
In short, look to see if you can isolate the Advanced Metadata behaviour so it only applies to the context you need. For example, place a Hostname or Path match criteria around it.
If this doesn't work, reach out to your Akamai account team who can help advise you on the best way to resolve the issue.
Hi Sijo Nellissery .
Are you saying that someone from Akamai previously have added AKA_PM_BYPASS_MODIFY_PATH=true in advanced override metadata section in your configuration and that is now breaking a new behavior you have added?I assume that advanced metadata was needed for a reason previously so in that case please contact your account team so they can work through your new scenario and make the previous logic work fine with your new changes.(In general, the possibility to add AKA_PM_BYPASS_MODIFY_PATH=true in advanced metadata is not active but available to add by Akamai for scenarios when that override is needed to solve some complicated scenario.)Regards,Bengt
Thanks Neil. Its Well-Explained.
I was not sure the definition of this variable and not able to get any documentation around it. Thats why raised this question here.
