Global Tear-Off widgets allow users to isolate a given country or region of a country from the Globe, and float it as a new widget on the Globe or in any available dashboard slot. This technique provides a means for the viewing the data set for a given entity separately.

  • Tear-Offs are 100% transparent by default, apart from the country selected. This allows them to float on other Widgets using the minimum of screen space.
  • All charts have a default 60% opaque background with a translucent effect.
  • Each element of the Widget is transparent independently. Instead of having shared container borders and background colors, the widget has a title bar and canvas-specific settings (shown below).
  • To do a Tear-Off, locate the country and double click to select it.

TIP: Country and/or Region borders are not required to select a country.

Tear-Offs can be done whether the Globe is in Globe mode or 2D Mercator mode and they can be done at any zoom level. Once selected, use your mouse to drag the selection until it tears off.

The Tear-Off can be dropped into an open space on the dashboard, or floated onto the Globe widget itself.

If it is dropped into an open space in a dashboard, the widget appears with the title "Tear-Off: <Entity>".

If it is dropped onto the Globe (whether in Globe or Mercator mode), the Place on Top option appears.

Multiple nations may be selected in order to view data sets as a region.

Tear-Off Widget Properties

Tear-Offs created from the Globe include all the options found on the Globe itself. Additionally, properties can be found in the lower panel when the Tear-Off Widget is selected.
