The Page Resource Settings node in the Clip Editor contains three main override setting types, each of which delivers comprehensive override control of pages in a given test:

Page Resource Settings Tab (in Clip Editor Properties)

  • Page Resource Loading settings at the clip level to honor, enable, or disable pages in a test.
  • Cache Dynamic Resource settings at the clip level to enable or disable caching. Caching starts at the clip level, so there are no page cache settings to override.
  • Page Resource Filtering (Include/Exclude Expressions) at the clip level to add to or replace include/exclude filtering performed in pages (e.g. for all page(s) in the clip).

Page Resource Loading at the Clip Level

Page Resource Loading settings override the resource retrieval at the clip level, regardless of whether those settings use static or dynamic retrieval. In the Clip Editor, these Page Resource Settings are found in the Clip Editor > Properties tab > Page Resource Settings node (shown right).

Page Resource Loading settings are executed by the highest-level settings. So, for example, composition settings override track and clip settings, while track settings override settings for the clip(s) in the track, and clip settings override settings for pages in that clip only.

For this reason, it is necessary to remain aware of Page Resource Settings from the top level (compositions > tracks > clips > pages) when using overrides of dynamic resources, dynamic caches, and resource filtering. In general, configure from the page level up, and execute from the top level down.

Note:        All Page Resource Settings available at the clip level are also present at the track and composition level. For both tracks and compositions, these settings appear in the Composition Editor > Properties > Page Resource Settings tab for a selected track or open composition. For more information, (see Page Resource Loading at the Composition Level or Page Resource Loading at the Track Level).

Page Resource Settings Tab (for Track and Composition Properties)

Page resource loading settings are accomplished at the track or composition level via the Page Resource Settings tab in the Composition Editor > Properties. This tab contains three main setting types that control how pages are executed from either the track or composition level in a given test:

  • Page Resource Loading (formerly Page Resources) settings at the track/composition to honor individual settings, enable, or disable pages in a test.
  • Cache Dynamic Resource settings at the track or composition level to honor individual clip settings, or to enable or disable them. Since caching starts at the clip level there are no page cache settings to override.
  • Page Resource Filtering (Include/Exclude Expressions) at the track or composition level to add to or replace include/exclude filtering performed at lower levels (e.g. clip or page).

In the shot on the right, Composition Properties are selected and the Page Resource Settings tab is clicked. Similarly, select the track node to displays track-level Page Resource Settings.

Page Resource Loading at the Composition Level

Page settings can be overridden at the composition level, for all clips in all tracks, via the Properties, Composition, Page Resource Settings tab. Settings at the composition level trump all settings for tracks, clips, and individual pages in clips.

  • To enable all pages in the composition, select Override to enabled.
  • To disable all pages in the composition, select Override to disabled.

Page Resource Loading at the Track Level

  2. Select the Page Resource Settings tab in the pane.
  3. Click the Page Resource Loading drop-down. By default, this field is set to Use Individual Page Settings, which respects all the settings for resource retrieval set in the page(s).
    • To enable all pages for clips in the track, select Override to enabled.
    • To disable all pages for clips in the track, select Override to disabled.
