An Output specifies what is to be shown in Result Details for a given action. Typical outputs include captureScreenshot and outputElementText. A single action can have one or more outputs. Outputs are identified in the expanded action by the Output  icon.

Command and Parameters

Outputs consist of the selected command and any parameters that apply to it. For example (shown right), Locator is the only parameter of the command, outputElementText. As you choose different options in the command drop-down, different parameters appear underneath it.

Following are some examples of typical output commands and the resulting display in the Result Details dashboard for that action:

  • captureScreenshot definition (in the Editor).

  • The Result Details display for captureScreenshot.

  • outputInnerHtml definition (in the Editor).

  • The Result Details display for outputInnerHTML.

  • For the action shown below, we have added 4 outputs to show the text of 4 different paragraphs in the Wikipedia article for SOASTA.

  • The Result Details display for the above 4 outputElementText commands.

Writing outputs to the result can be useful for informational purposes, as well as for determining text to match in other accessors that use pattern matching.

Adding an Output to an Action

  1. In the Clip Editor, List view use the mouse to hover over the action.
  2. Click the Output  icon on the Add toolbar.

The expanded action's Outputs correspond to those in the lower panel Outputs node. If no outputs are attached to the selection, then the form indicates so.

  • To open an action in the lower panel, select it and then double-click it
  1. When you do so, a new Output form is added. The Command drop-down presents the list of available outputs. Subsequent parameters depend upon the selection made here.

  • Note that if a Locator has been specified the Property icon is inactive.
  • If the Locator field is blank, you can select from among available property values using the ISSE Editor.

Editing Expanded Outputs

An Output specifies what is to be shown in Result Details for a given action. Typical outputs include captureScreenshot and outputElementText. A single action can have one or more outputs. Outputs are identified in the expanded action by the Output  icon.

  1. Locate the output and expand its attributes.

TIP:    Leaving outputViewHierarchy blank returns the entire view hierarchy.

  • For those outputs that take a locator, you can also use the Locator icon to enter Touch Locator mode and change the selection. Note that the Locator icon is only active while in record mode.
